How to get to Split
The main airport to get to Split is Saint Jerome Airport (SPU). The Airport Bus Line (line 37) operates daily from the airport to Split Bus Terminal (Sukoisan), located close to the city centre (700 m from Diocletian Palace). The journey takes approximately 50 minutes and costs 3.00 EUR for a one-way ticket. As an alternative you can also use the Airport Shuttle Bus. The journey to the main bus station (located close to Split man train station) takes approximately 30 minutes and costs 8.00 EUR for a one-way ticket. You can buy your ticket online or directly from the driver. Taxi services are available near the main terminal building. Please take into account a cost of ca. 40.00 EUR for a 25-minute-transfer to the city centre.
Split main train station is located a 5-minute walk from the Old Town and the promenade Riva. It connects Split to Zagreb, Vienna, Munich, Budapest, and potentially other cities through connections in Zagreb.
Split is a very walkable city, especially if you stay at a hotel near the Old Town. All parts of Split are connected by a dense network of bus lines. A single ticket is valid for 60 minutes and costs 2.00 EUR. If you intend to use the buses frequently, you might consider buying the daily ticket (4.00 EUR) or the three-day ticket (10.00 EUR). Bus tickets can be purchased at the dedicated ticket booths located by the major bus stations around the Old Town (stations Pazar, Prima and Općina), ticket machines at some of the bus stations, most newstands (Tisak and Slobodna Dalmacija) scattered around the city, from the bus driver and through the official mobile app of Promet Split.
